| What
is the Board of Education?
The Board of Education is a group of seven elected district residents
who set policies under which the district operates and who hires
a Superintendent of Schools and a School Business Administrator
to administer and implement these policies. Members serve three-year
terms of office, terms are staggered, and elections are held every
year. Each year the Board elects its president and vice-president
during the organizational meeting that is held after the school
elections in April.
When and Where are Meetings Held?
The Board conducts business at regularly scheduled public meetings
on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month during the school
year. Meetings are held in the Lincoln Park Middle School Media
Center, 90 Ryerson Road, Lincoln Park, New Jersey and begin at 7:30
p.m. The public is welcomed and encouraged to attend.
Members of the audience have an opportunity to speak on non-agenda
or agenda items during Public Recognition sessions
noted on the agenda. The agendas are available at each public meeting,
but copies are available in the Superintendent's office on Friday
afternoon prior to the regular Tuesday meeting.
All actions of the Board shall be taken only in official Board meetings
called, scheduled, and conducted according to the by-laws and the
statutes of the state. It is understood that the members of the
Board have authority only when acting as a Board legally in session.
