Annual Budget

2008-2009 School Budget Presentation
(PowerPoint Slideshow)

Message from the Superintendent of Schools . . .

OUR CHILDREN . . . OUR FUTURE

Your schools are dedicated to the academic, social, and emotional growth of the children in Lincoln Park. The school budget is the commitment on the part of the Board of Education, and ultimately you the voter, to the growth of the children. This is the proposed budget for the 2008-2009 school year.

This budget has two goals: to increase the educational excellence in Lincoln Park Schools and to be fiscally responsible to the taxpayers. It has taken the hard work of many people to refine next year’s school budget to meet those goals. We have again been challenged by a minimal increase in state aid, ever increasing fixed costs, legal challenges from Boonton, and demanding federal legislation (No Child Left Behind) without monetary support for the mandates. Nevertheless, the budget before you ensures both the quality and enhancement of the program you have come to expect for the children of the town at a cost that is reasonable and responsible.

Our objectives for the next school year as supported by the budget include:

  • enhanced instructional services and upgraded resources and technology for our general education, special education, remedial, and gifted and talents students aligned as required with the revised New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards;
  • reasonable class sizes;
  • retaining other important services for children including guidance, library, nurses, curricular and extra-curricular experiences;
  • continued professional development for our staff to support the children and the program;
  • transportation services beyond state requirements to ensure safe travel for children
We will continue to send our grades 9-12 students to Boonton High School, however, some students will decide to participate in one of the Academies or the Vocational/Technical School’s programs which is represented by the tuition noted in the budget. This budget will support our children to ensure their futures through opportunities and experiences that enrich their young lives and help them grow to be our leaders and citizens of tomorrow. They are the promise of our future.
