The LPMS students and staff were able to participate in the Town Council’s work session meeting on Monday, April 3rd. The Mayor and Council agreed to have their work session meeting at the LPMS, which provided the students an opportunity to experience first-hand how government meetings work. During the public session of the meeting the students took advantage of the opportunity to ask questions of the elected officials. The LP police were also recognized by the Council at the meeting for receiving accreditation by the State. The students gave the police officers in attendance a rousing standing ovation for their achievement. Overall the experience was a huge success. With a recommendation of Council President Gary Gemian, consideration should be given to holding one meeting a year at the LPMS.
