Situation

What to do...
YOU HAVE A PROBLEM: Contact the person closest to the problem first.  We encourage using the “chain of command or contact”, i.e. begin with the teacher. If you still have a problem call the building principal, then the superintendent, lastly come to the next Board of Education meeting.
YOU WANT TO TALK WITH A TEACHER: Call your child’s school.  The teacher will call you back as soon as possible. Many teachers have e-mail options on their eBoard or have made their e-mail addresses generally known.
A LUNCH IS LEFT AT HOME: Deliver it to the school office.  Your child will receive his or her lunch.
SOMETHING IS LOST AT SCHOOL: All items are put in a “Lost and Found.”  Children may claim lost articles before or after school.
SOMETHING IS LEFT ON A BUS: Call the transportation office at 973-696-5500. Ask for Mrs. Oliphant.
YOU CHANGE YOUR ADDRESS, TELEPHONE NUMBER, OR CUSTODIAL STATUS: Notify the school office promptly.
YOU PLAN TO MOVE: Notify the school office as soon as possible. With at least one week’s notice, you can take your child’s transfer papers with you on the last day of your child’s attendance.  All other records will be forwarded upon request of the receiving school.
YOUR CHILD IS LATE: Call the school office to report lateness and have the child report to the school office upon arrival.
YOUR CHILD CANNOT PARTICIPATE IN GYM CLASS: A doctor’s note is required.
YOUR CHILD WILL BE ABSENT: Call the school nurse for a morning or all day absence at 973-696-6024 for the Middle School; or 973-696-0780 for the Elementary School.
YOUR CHILD MUST BE ABSENT FOR A PROLONGED PERIOD: If a student is expected to be out of school for two or more weeks due to illness or accident, home instruction is available.  Call the Director of Special Services at 973-696-9150 for more information.
YOU WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT SCHOOL PROGRAMS: Get involved in active parent groups (PTO), read the notices and newsletters that are sent home, volunteer in the schools, visit the Lincoln Park Web site, and attend Board of Education meetings usually held the second and fourth Tuesday of each month (a few exceptions include Oct., Dec., and April.)
