Description:

Hello!

Welcome to th Grade Science!  I am super excited about this year and I hope that you are too. It is the goal of the 8th Grade team to move you all into the role of independent learners.  Science is an exciting field of study and you can take what you will be learning here and apply the skills to many facets in your life and your future endeavors.

Let’s make it a great year!

Grading

The 3 P's: Participation, Preparedness & Politeness

25%
Classwork:   25%
Quizzes: (I drop the lowest quiz grade each marking period. Everyone is allowed one bad day!) 25%
Tests & Labs: 25%

Most of your work will be done in class and I do not assign homework on a regular basis. You will occasionally have homework, mostly if you do not finish the classwork it is your responsibility to finish it at home.  You may also have some reading or writing to do for homework.

My Rules.... the iRules :-)  You are smart, capable and entirely responsible for yourself.

iRules

iCommunicate: If you miss class, send your teacher an email to find out what you missed in class or ask a peer from your class.

iDirections: Ask 3 before me; you must ask 3 other people before you ask the teacher.

iHomework/classwork: Check the online classroom and Genesis before asking for another copy of homework/classwork if you lose it.

iPrepare: You are expected to be prepared for every class with completed assignments, reading assignments, necessary materials (ie. Notebook/binder & writing utensils).

iRead: Did you read the directions first?  Did you do the assigned reading before attempting to answer questions about it?  It is much easier to complete the assignments if you have read the assigned material first.

iReference: If you have a question about your assignment, did you reference your notebook or textbook first?

iReflect: You will evaluate your goals, actions, and responsibilities.

iRespect: You are to respect yourself, classmates, and the teacher.

iRest: When the iPad is not being used, it must be put away.  Your phones should be on silent and out of sight.  If it rings, buzzes or makes a sound during class it goes to jail on my desk for the day.

iStudy: Form a study group, meet at lunch or use Facetime to study for quizzes and tests.

iWork: You must work up until the bell and do not pack up early and class is not dismissed till you are cleaned up and given permission to leave.
