What is Spero? Sphero has been called the "app controlled ball that does it all." Basically, Sphero is a remote controlled ball that can be programmed. It can be used as a remote control toy, It can be used to teach programming, It be used to create interactive games in the classroom. Students will be using Sphero for all of these purposes in STEM class.
Students can download three apps on their iPad or Smart phone, for free, to begin using Sphero. The first app, simply called, "Sphero," will allow students to use Sphero as a remote controlled vehicle. This will allow the students to understand how Sphero moves and works. There are game elements available in this app. Students will be challenged during "missions" and will be required to control certain actions within a given time period. This is a good begin app to understand Sphero's basic features.
The next two apps, iOS Macrolab and iOS OrbBasic, for iPads, will be required to for the programming/ gaming portion of a student's Sphero experience. These apps are free to download on the App Store. Once these apps are downloaded, students can go to gosphero.com -> click on Education and begin programming according to the SPRK lessons.
