To create and maintain a positive learning environment for all students, our class has developed the following rules that we feel are important. We have all agreed to follow these rules.
1. Keep your hands and feet to yourself.
2. Speak one at a time.
3. Raise your hand to speak and wait for the teacher to call on you.
4. Use kind words and actions.
5. Follow directions the first time they are given.
6. Work quietly so you don’t disturb others.
7. No running in the classroom.
We have a traffic light in our classroom with three colors: green, yellow, and red. All the students have a clothespin with their name on it. At the beginning of the day, all the clothespins will be on the green circle, which means the students are having a great day and are following the class rules. I know that we will have a cooperative class and we will do our best to follow the rules, but the consequences for NOT following the rules are as follows:
First time- teacher gives verbal warning- Stop and Think (student moves clothespin to yellow).
Second time- The student will remove him/ herself from the situation and fill out a letter to mom and dad about his/ her behavior and how it can be improved (student moves clothespin to red).
****Students can earn points for positive behavior and work towards prizes and special privileges with CLASS DOJO.****
ClassDojo is an online classroom tool that helps teachers keep track of behavior in their classrooms quickly and easily. It captures and generates data on behavior that teachers can share with parents. There will be more information about this on BACK-TO-SCHOOL NIGHT.
